Some 20 representatives of central and regional administrative police departments of the Interior Ministry, representatives of the football clubs and public council under the Astana internal affairs department will participate in a two-day seminar to learn about best practices on public assembly management. 
Participants will discuss the legal basis of public assembly management, structure and organization of special police units to manage public assemblies, pre-emptive strategies for managing public assemblies, police-public partnership in managing public assemblies, the use of non-lethal weapons and the development and the use of stewarding in managing sporting events. The training seminar is especially relevant for Kazakhstan in light of the upcoming EXPO-2017 event, during which the country expects to host millions of international visitors.
The event will be led by national and international experts from the United Kingdom, Lithuania and Germany. It is co-organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana and the Interior Ministry with the financial support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and is part of the Office’s efforts to enhance security, increase accountability and promote law enforcement personnel’s knowledge of best practices.
