Frontex Handbook Comes to Kazakhstan: OSCE Launches Training Cycle on Combating Illicit Trafficking of SALW, Ammunition and Explosives
On 8-12 June 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in close co-ordination with the Conflict Prevention Center/Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC), together with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), the German Bundeswehr Verification Centre (BwVC), INTERPOL, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), delivered a training course on “Combating Illicit Trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), Conventional Ammunition and Explosives” for 20 officers of Border Service of National Security Committee of and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry

OSCE Supports Kazakhstan’s Efforts to Strengthen Judicial Education and Professional Development
Strengthening judicial education and professional development is a key component of Kazakhstan’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality, professionalism, and effectiveness of its justice system. To support the development of Kazakhstan’s Concept of Judicial Education and Professional Development, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana facilitated an exchange of expertise with European judicial institutions from 27 May to 1 June 2026.

Advancing responsible AI use in financial monitoring and investigations
On 15-16 June 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in collaboration with the Financial Monitoring Agency and the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan, and with the support of the Action against Terrorism Unit of the Transnational Threats Department of the OSCE Secretariat, organized a training seminar for officers of these two agencies. The training event focused on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in financial monitoring and the investigation of financial crimes.
