About

The event will include the presentation of the 2015 Report “On the Human Rights Situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan” by the Human Rights Commission under the President.

The report outlines the status of implementation of international human rights obligations and contains relevant policy and legislative recommendations to enhance human rights protection mechanisms in specific areas such as freedom of assembly, expression and religion. The event will be moderated by both the Chairperson and the Secretary of the Commission and attended by high-level governmental representatives, members of civil society, Ambassadors of foreign delegations to the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of international organizations.

The initiative is part of an OSCE Programme Office’s project on human rights awareness-raising and the advancement of protection mechanisms that also envisaged the translation of the report into Kazakh and English languages followed by its publication in all three languages. Future events envision presenting and distributing the report at upcoming training seminars targeting governmental officials at the regional level.
