About

This conference will focus on the reducing the risk of both natural and manmade disasters, as well as managing the consequences thereof, particularly at the municipal level in Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Participants will consider a number of issues, including capacity-building, the importance of public participation and regional co-operation.

The Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Astana, Jeannette Kloetzer, will deliver a speech at the conference on the role of the OSCE in developing an effective response mechanism to major natural and manmade disasters. The speech will also focus on elaborating policies for regionally co-ordinated disaster prevention, risk reduction and swift responses to environmental challenges.
