About
Training on development of sustainable fisheries in the framework of the promotion of the principles of the green economy in the Aral Sea region is being organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in partnership with the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) Executive Directorate in the Republic of Kazakhstan for some 30 representatives of the local fish farms, local authorities and fish inspectorate.
The training course is aimed at fish farmers to build an appropriate model of sustainable commercial fish farming at the regional level thereby developing green economy initiatives in this sector. The principles of the green economy in the development of sustainable commercial aquaculture are needed in order to increase production of fish conservation of biological resource potential of the Aral Sea basin and to protect it from the negative effects exhaustion in a changing climate.
The event is a follow-up of the Office's earlier activities aimed at promoting sustainable fishery in the Aral Sea region.
