The training seminar in Almaty is second in a series of four events for members of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) against torture and ill-treatment aimed at increasing their capacity for a transparent and effective NPM. It will address methodological, strategic and ethical issues, as well as improving the temporary working procedures of the NPM. Participants will study reporting methodology and topics related to handling and addressing any functional difficulties during preventive visits, as well as an of overview key challenges in fulfilling human rights monitoring in places of detention.

The series aims to support the implementation of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against torture in Kazakhstan.
