A regional training course on education for sustainable development was held from 28 to 30 June 2012 in Almaty. The event was organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) with the support of the OSCE Centre in Astana, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Government of Switzerland.

Some 40 participants from the five Central Asian countries, including the national focal points from the ministries of education and environment, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, universities and teachers’ training institutions, gathered for the annual event to share best practices and lessons learned in the field of sustainable development education.

The event was part of the OSCE’s assistance to Central Asian countries in developing  sustainable development education, including national action plans.
